App Design

For my Senior Project at California Polytechnic State University, I decided to pair my User Experience concentration with my study-abroad experience to develop the concept for a new app - Ramble.

Ramble is a ‘travel journal’ mobile app that encourages frequent and engaging journaling while traveling or studying abroad.

Problem: While I was abroad, I wanted to keep track of my experiences and stories, but I found journaling took too long and I lacked consistency, making the problem worse.

Inspiration: Wordle. During my time abroad, Wordle was reaching peak popularity, and I was fascinated by the way people continue to engage with the daily puzzles again and again, while connecting with others over their shared joy and frustration. This level of engagement was something I wanted to channel as I was developing my travel journal.

Methods: After initial sketches on paper, I moved to Figma to build out full wireframes and flesh out a full, click-through prototype.

My Process

Ramble is a daily travel journal that provides new prompts and questions upon each login. These prompts are intended to capture different aspects and unique memories of traveling, especially abroad. Ramble enables quicker and more frequent journaling due to its format and mobile accessibility.

Additionally, the social page and gallery features make the app more of a one-stop shop for people’s unique journaling needs and .
